The summer garden has about done. There's always that gap between the end of summer harvest and the beginning of autumn planting. Usually I either throw done a cover crop of some kind or just start working things up for planting in September.

What do you guys do in the interim?

i've never experienced a gap between summer and fall. i'm usually harvesting tomatoes and such up thru november. my problem is usually finding room for the next season, whatever season that might be.

Being a newbie, I'm having a terrible time trying to figure out what I'm supposed to be planting right now. thinking It looks like in my zone 6 I have to wait til mid Aug to plant, but I have a hard time believing that.

I'm going to put in peas and cabbages today, and maybe some more carrots, beets and radishes, and see what happens.

I usually plant so that everything comes in at about the same time, e.g., determinate tomatoes ad such.
