Hello From the Northern & Central Midwest Host
Let me re-introduce myself. My brain is not functioning to come up with anything new except that I am a year older and creakier, so here is my story, from last summer:
Goosegirl wrote:Thanks all! I will try to do my best for all of you. Most of you have been 'listening' to me blab for the last few years, but for those who don't know me, let me blab some more.
My name is Teresa and I am a transplant to the Northern and Central Midwest from California. I have to say that since being in South Dakota I have gotten lazy about watering because for so much of the summer we can rely(?) on T-storms to give us most of the water we need. I was not used to that, as the area I came from basically had 2 seasons: Cold & Wet, then Hot & Dry, each approximately 6 months long. Here, we have 4: Beginning of Winter, Dang Cold Winter, End of Winter, Summer. Since this is a large region with MANY differing climates, I will do my best to help out in all of the variances.
My first garden memory is helping Dad set up a strawberry pyramid in the back yard. I was 4 and I was hooked! Fast-forward several decades, and I discover ANSFG in Menard's when I needed something to read while waiting for my car to be repaired. Again I was hooked. Unfortunately it was December in SD - season: Dang Cold Winter. But I knew this was the method that could help me clean up my garden and make it workable, not just work. So I started plotting, planning, and storing up CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP construction materials to build boxes if the snow would ever melt.34 years and 11 boxes later, it is still working. I will never step out of the box(es) again!
Thank you all for letting me experience this, and I will try not to scare or scar any of you!
