Buenos Dias Y'all!
OK folks I know our weather, soil, bugs, and weeds can be a "little different" so we've got our own group to discuss the joys of tumbleweeds, grassburrs, high winds, and caliche hehe. Seriously I hope having this group will serve the south plains well.

Re: Buenos Dias Y'all!
Man I'm so glad to see us have this region here. We usually get left out and usually grouped in with either the Dallas area or the "midwest" like Kansas.
This will be my first SFG year and my immediate worries are with the wind and heat. Afraid this mel's mix is so light that it's going to allow crops to blow over and uproot in just 6". Not only that but keeping it moist in our heat spells of 100+. Guess we'll see how it goes!

yeah it's my first year with the Square foot method also. I was going to do raised bed anyway since the ground here is just caliche. This just makes it more fun!
I know what you mean about the high winds. I've been here in the oilpatch since 2003 and I'm still trying to get used to it.
