Nylon netting in Hawaii?
Has anyone found a good (local) source for the large opening nylon netting to use when making a trellis? I tried Hawaii Hawaii, and they only had a small hole variety - figured I would check here first to save myself some driving around.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Great - thank you!
(And in my first post I meant to write "Hardware Hawaii" not "Hawaii Hawaii"!)

Re: Nylon netting in Hawaii?
Apparently the Oahu Walmarts (I checked all 3) don't carry trellis netting. Neither does Lowes or Home Depot. I am still looking for a source on Oahu - has anyone gotten any here?
If not - what's the best online source?
Thank you!

Re: Nylon netting in Hawaii?
Thanks HawaiiAl - but I live on Oahu. The Maui people will be glad to know about Ohana Greenhouse.
So in case it helps anyone, I did find an Oahu source for something I hope will work. I will post a picture later. I got what is called "cucumber netting" from Fukuda Seed Store, 1287 Kalani Street, Honolulu, 808-841-6719. The packaging is all in Japanese, so I can't tell you much about it. The holes are 24cm (just over 9 inches) and it's roughly 6 feet wide by 300 feet long (enough for a lot of gardens!!) and cost $11. The woman there is very friendly, and they have TONS of local seeds, all high quality - it's a family business (started by her grandfather I think) - been in business for over 60 years.

Re: Nylon netting in Hawaii?
Wish I had known! When I saw the Kahului address, I didn't think to check if there was one on Oahu. The stuff I bought ended up making a giant mess. It was impossible to unroll, very difficult to work with. I would not advise anyone to get it!

Hi Lavamom,
I saw some nylon netting at the Home Depot in Pearl City and the Kapolei store.
Hope this post is not too late.

Re: Nylon netting in Hawaii?
Thanks anyway - I already bought some - but maybe your post will help someone else. I called both those Home Depots, and they both said they did NOT have it - so it must be something new they got in for summer. Good to know.

Good info
Good info on nylon netting. I've been using wire mesh for concrete paving as my vertical trellis. They were leftovers pieces from tomato cages I made. They have 6"x6" openings. Heavy gauge wire, so you'll need a small bolt cutter to clip them off. They sell at all hardware stores for about $50 per 25' roll. I think they're about 7' wide.
