Re: To glove or not to glove
I stick my gloves in my pocket in case I need them for briars or roses or working with the big tools (don't want blisters).
I tried the soap under the nails bit and I just disliked that feeling under my nails so rather do without. Wearing gloves does NOT keep my nails clean anyway.
I love the feel of the soil in my hands and fingers.
Soap and water, a good nail brush and lots of scrubbing and a good nail file take care of the cleanliness problem.

Re: To glove or not to glove
Call me prissy, but after over a decade as a dental assistant, I LOVE wearing my gloves! I don't like the feeling of dirt or anything powdery on my hands. BUT, as someone else mentioned, gloves do not keep your hands completely protected from dirt, so as I stated earlier, I use the Sonicare (the makers would probably have a heart attack ). I am not usually so girly, but I do not like getting dirt and gunk under my nails!
