Off the Caprock
Well even though I am not right up on the South Plains, I still consider myself IN the South Plains.. I live in Quitaque. WE are literally about 8 miles OFF the caprock almost exactly half way between and east of Lubbock and Amarillo. And our weather is Bi-Polar.. We are known to be 85 degrees most of the day and by evening, we have freezing rain and snow. It happens.. So, I am going to start SFG this year as the garden last year was great but it kicked my rear !! Planted for me and a few close friend/neighbors, and bless their souls they didnt help out like i wished they would so it became a pain. So..... Gunna keep it small and personal this year. Will probably STILL end up with more than I need and will gladly share !!! Now if this bi-polar weather will cooperate I can get started in a couple days. !!!!! Happy Gardening !!!!

Re: Off the Caprock
Sorry your friends/neighbours did not turn up trumps, gategitter. It is nice of you to continue to think of them though. Maybe when they don't get quite so much from you they may realize what they are missing and help a little more.
There is nothing better in sharing our surplus for giving us a feel-good feeling, especially when you know they really appreciate the way we grow stuff.

Re: Off the Caprock
ah it really wasnt that big a deal.. I was babysitting my grand kids at the time so I had lots of home time. We would go out each morning. Brylie would sit in her stroller under the shade I threw up and Cayden would help me drag hoses and pick squash. WE actually had a WONDERFUL time together and I will NEVER forget a minute of it.. But it just got to much and so it began to look yukky so thats why I want to stay small this time. We will still have those wonderful moments but with both babies now. And in their defense... they both had full time jobs so they were really busy. lol Cant wait though to start again !!!
