Once things dry up we will get back to playing in our yard All that trouble planting a hammock and we cant use ti the yard is far too soggy and soft.  We have big plans for the fall replacing some of our aging boxes, and sticking a few more things in the yard if we can find the room Laughing

I find it funny when checking on a thread because something caught my eye and find that apart from the last three entries it is over a year old, in June 2015. Very Happy

Just about to send some commiserations so I hope everyone is OK and have not been flood bound recently.

LOL kelejan the thread is a year old but its never not true here in the soggy south.  sanderson dug it up and was kind enough to inquire so since its a timely topic I figured I'd reply here.  The flooding is historic many good people with long history of not flooding have water in their homes.  The news said this morning 60,000 homes and the number is still climbing as areas are reached.

My great neice owned a beauty salon in Baton Rouge that got wiped out. What happens to people without flood insurance? What happens when people lose their homes and their jobs in a disaster like this? I can't even image what it would be like to lose everything in a single day with no resources to start over. Sad

Cajun, sanderson is so good at following up things like that, she has a very kind heart.

I also wonder how people start over when there is so much damage.  In many cases people will never get back what they have lost and their quality of life  may never be the  same again.

These disasters happen and are in the news, then a short time later you seldom hear of them again as another disaster strikes again somewhere in the world.

I have been asked on forums why all the trees in our yard are leaning one way or the other and nothing is straight.  I have been acused of planting them that way to be different.  Today is the 11th aniversery of Katrina and she is responsible for or pecan trees angle.

. . .takes a lot of water to wash away New Orleans. . . Song recorded or written in 1981? Seemed like it also had a modern reference in it?

i remembered I had posted this last year and came to see when.  As I suspected its a month hater but the rain train is back 4 or 5 days in a row some where around 6 to 8 inches of rain and our swampy tropical back yard is loving it!!  This is just what our baby pecans and figs needed and may push them to ripen I am back to wearing my white Cajun boots.

I think your Rain Train is passing through British Columbia, Scorpio. It has been coming up from California and inundated the Okanagan and causing flooding.  It has missed us in the adjacent valley but we finally got rain to alleviated the oppressive  heat that we have been suffering from for a week or so.

So hard to get the grass cut when it grows too long and cannot not get dry.

Of course the flooding does include the snow melting in the mountains too quickly.

It's been a very soggy month so far and I am pretty much and a wait it out mode.  Rain every day for like 10 days now and Cant cut the grass or repair doggy damage to our boxes.  Jolie has grown and jumped over the chicken wire in 2 of our raised bed and had a ball digging and tearing up every thing that was growing.  Cant hardly blame her the raised beds was the only dryground to play in.  When it finally dries its back to Lowes for taller chicken wire and sturdier fencing poles and we will try to pick up a few heat tollerent things to put back in the garden.  Our late spring stuff turned into doggy salad.
