Photo Hosting Problems
Feel free to call me a grumpy, whiny, old man, but when I uploaded a photo I was not made aware it was going to an entirely different server. I don't want another account - for any purpose. Free or expensive. Period.
Add to that it won't let me sign in using the password they provided.
I can't even tell them to stop their spam!

Re: Photo Hosting Problems
You mean Servimg, or whatever it's called? I've never visited it. What would we go on it for?
Oh sorry...my mistake. I just realized that when I click on one of my photos to enlarge it, I end up at Servimg. Must be how I knew the name.

Re: Photo Hosting Problems
I know that's the default server the photos get stored on when uploading them, but I never actually visited the site or signed up myself. My photos are uploaded without an account there, although I occasionally have to deal with photos being roatated if I upload directly from my phone.

Re: Photo Hosting Problems
Rob, so can you go to Servimg and rotate you photos there?
I think I need to go explore that website and see what's happening....
OK, so I got into it by logging in with same email and password that I use on this forum. Man, 91 pgs of photos! Couldn't edit any of them tho.
If Servimg starts charging, does that mean all our photos here will disappear like TD's did?

Re: Photo Hosting Problems
I checked on some of the issues this practice raises and found it could very well be illegal to create accounts here or on other servers without the express permission of the person for whom the account is created.
Even if it is not illegal it doesn't seem ethical or safe for those who are unaware of their new accounts.

Hmm...
Never thought of that. I wonder what other websites make mystery accounts for us when we sign into them...? I don't mind a photo one but what other kinds might there be out there...?

What spam? I've been here for 6 yrs and never any spam from servimg.
Servimg is the image hosting server for the forum. Host your own images if you don't want the forums software to do so.
Forumotion is free forum software and we do NOT maintain our own servers.
You chose to use servimg as a host by selecting the host image tab. Again, use your own if you're not comfortable with the forum software image host.
You use your emails password to sign into servimg.

What's illegal or unethical? You created an account here? Another account someplace else has NOT BEEN CREATED FOR YOU! You can use servimg to host images or use your own host of choice. Servimg is the image hosting software for forumotion. I think it's pretty incredible that free forum software provides their own servers for image hosting.

Re: Photo Hosting Problems
Here are the update instructions for posting a photo on the Forum. I've never had to "sign in" or "create" an account for Servimg. Nor have I received any Spam from them.
Click on Host an Image button
Click on +Select Files (green)
Select your photo or photos
Click on Send All (blue) takes a few seconds to complete.
Click on Insert All (symbol of 2 tiles)
