Square footage
I have a total 111 feet that I need to add dirt . How many 5 gallon buckets would it take ? Need your help asap people that are delivering it tomorrow want to know how much to bring now

Adding dirt to a garden? As far as calculating volume in 5 gallon buckets, we need more info. Is that 111 feet the length of the area or the total square feet? If it's the length, we need to know the width as well. We would also need to know how deep you want this new layer of dirt. Are we filling a 5 foot hole or adding a 2 inch layer. Vastly different amounts of 5 gallon buckets.
I'm sure someone here would be happy to help with the calculations once we get the needed info, but i myself am likely going to bed soon.

The only problem with the math on cubic footage is that a cf of properly moist mix freshly mixed and the same mix in the bed watered and settled is anywhere from 10-40%.

There's a difference between my "chunky" un-screened compost and the screened compost or commercially bagged compost. I think 10-40% is a reasonable range of difference.
