Strong in fertilizer
How is it that Mels mix is alright for onions, when in the late summer they require less fertilizer? With 1/3 compost ! Thanks Gord .

When using natural nutrients, such as compost, and when there is an active soil food web, the plants take up only the nutrients they need at the time they need it. If chemical fertilizers are used, it is easy to force plants to take nutrients they don't need, such a nitrogen, at the wrong times.

Yes, it will create it. Compost is full of microbes, microbes which feed on organic matter to create plant-available nutrients. Plants root exudates containing sugars, amino acids, organic acids, enzymes, and other substance, then feed the soil food web.
