New Garden Help
I'm new to gardening and the SFG method.
I planted my garden about 6 weeks ago by directly sowing seeds. Most of it has sprouted but it seems stunted. I have plywood on the bottom and drilled holes like the book said. I'm using a moisture probe and have been watering when it reads "dry". I'm thinking I may be overwatering though and wanted to get an opinion about my plants.

Re: New Garden Help
Jcor, is it a table top bed with a plywood bottom? Or is it sitting on the ground with a plywood bottom? How has the weather been in your area?
When plants start out good and then stop growing, it may be a problem with the 1/3 compost part. What did you use for the compost(s)?
To help folks help you, can you add a little more to your location? Something like the closest town or "xx region." As Admin I know where you are growing but it will help other folks.

Re: New Garden Help
The box is sitting on cinder blocks so it is about 6 inches off the ground.
For compost I made a mixture of 3 different kinds of bagged compost.
I'm an hour north of San Francisco.
Weather was between 50s to 30s when I put the seeds in. Its risen to 80s to 50s. There was a few days of rain. It dropped down enough for some frost one day a month ago and was up to the 90s for two days last week.

Re: New Garden Help
I'm thinking that as soon as your weather warms up and stabilizes, things will start growing. Take a look at the Master Gardener articles in your area. Learning when and what to direct sow, and what does better started indoors and transplanted out, can really help. You will plant garlic in October. I should plant in January. You will notice right off that the articles are for row gardening and not for SFG.

Re: New Garden Help
You're right. After looking at that PDF it looks like I was a little early on some of my planting. Thanks for the help!
