Ball's Spiced Tomato Soup

Last night I used up 2 net quarts of cored fresh tomatoes from the garden, any variety that was ripe, plus bell peppers and dried garlic from the garden. I made a half recipe of Spiced Tomato Soup from the most recent Ball preserving book that I just got from my daughter. Since I don't pressure can now, and this recipe is not approved for safe steam canning, it will be frozen in portions for winter eating. I really debated whether to even add any sugar, but compromised on 2 teaspoons of white sugar with a few drops of molasses as I didn't have any brown sugar on hand. The carrots add sweetness, so the sugar would be easy to leave out. I cooked everything together, removed the bay leaf and pureed in batches.

No cloves on hand so I added 1/4 tsp. of ground clove. PS: I'm afraid at the rate I'm snacking on it, there won't be anything left to freeze.
