Has anyone used Castine Blend Organic & Natural Raised Bed Mix
From Coast of Maine - anyone use it? Probably too much peat? Coast of Maine’s Castine Blend—Organic Raised Bed Mix

I have not used it, but the fact that it is 50%-60% peat moss says that it is overpriced. Peat is the least expensive part of making Mel's Mix. A 6 cu ft bale of peat is less than $20, while this product is $13 for 1 cu ft -- that means that with this product you are paying between $6.50 and $7.80 for 1 cu ft of peat.
That said, if you mix this with other compost, and you compensate for each bag being 1/2 cu ft of peat, it could work.

Way over-priced peat moss. It has other ingredients such as biochar, green sand and lime, that are not needed if one uses a blend of different real composts.
It does have a bit of crab meal, but if one really needs crab meal (chitin) for nematodes, buying straight crab meal is a better deal.
