Anybody out there?
Just wondering who else in NZ is SFG'ing? I have two on the go at the moment and they have been pretty good. Also made two for Christmas presents and they are going well. It would be interesting to know what is working for you and what has failed. I had a great crop of potatoes, with 17 big spuds in one square foot being the best. I have grown some corn over summer but the cobs have been quite small. Tomatoes are doing okay but not great. I am in rural south Auckland so a few frosts over winter and a VERY VERY dry summer. I have struggled to grow chillies and also cucumbers so any thoughts there would be appreciated.
Frankly I am not much of a gardener but I have really enjoyed the square foot gardening, it just seems very manageable when you have a busy lifestyle. Anyway is there anyone else out there in Aotearoa?

Yep! I'm "out there". But not out where you are .
Welcome to the Forums and SFG. I hope you get some neighbors soon. In the meantime we're all out here for you.

Hi snappermouth, welcome to sfg and the forum.
There were a number of people from NZ on the old forum so don't know where they have got to.
I have been given the role of Regional Host for Aus and NZ so I hope to see lots more people using the forum over the next few months. It is a great place to learn about sfg and what people are doing.
I have found that despite the climate differences with the northern hemisphere there are lots of similar things apply.
It has been interesting seeing the different garden designs and hearing about different plants and methods. Also a bit of fun along the way.
I would encourage you to post questions as nothing is silly and people are very supportive.
I look forward to seeing pictures of your garden at some stage. There are a few of mine under "gallery" if you are interested.
Cheers
Ray
