Aaaarrrrgghhh! My insect covers just took flight! It's windy here tonight, with possible thunderstorms on the way. Winds are currently 20 mph, gusting to 33. I had bricks placed around the bottom, but they didn't keep the covers from blowing off.

One of the "sails" even pulled one of the pvc pipes out of the sfg bed. I had used the method described in the All New SFG book of just bending the pipe and putting the ends in the corners. I didn't fasten them to the frame or anything - wish I had somehow done that now. I know at least one of the covers had a big hole ripped in the top. I don't know if I'll be able to reuse them.

It's dark out and I couldn't see if any of my plants had been damaged. I surely hope not, but if so, I'll just try again. Setbacks are a part of life and I'll just have to be strong. But first I'm gonna have a good cry! sobbing

At this time of year we have plenty of warm weather left to replant ! That's one of the beauties of our latitude.. we have lots of wiggle room !!

Do you have any critter cages? That would keep the covers from blowing away. I recently had high winds here. Put the covers over the plants and pushed multiple rocks over the tulle cover edges and half sunk them into Mel's Mix. But then had to get larger heavier rocks from 35mph gusty winds, that finally worked. Hope this helps you!

Thanks, sceleste and llama momma. I checked on the plants this morning and it looks like they'll be ok. I was worried that the pvc pipe that came loose might have damaged some of them, but it looks like it only uprooted one small green onion plant. The plants are kind of windblown, but hopefully, with time, they'll straighten back up.

It's still too windy out there to bring my covers back out to check on them and try to get the beds covered again. I have to be at work at noon today and work till 8 tonight, so I don't know that I'll get anything fixed today. I fear that cabbage worms may already be present in the MM by the time I can see to covering the beds again.

Better go get ready for work!
