Kudos to dear fellow Mid-South member "Dixie" for finding this awesome planting chart. Simply input the first anticipated frost date for your zipcode and VOILA...all the planting date ranges for most popular planted crops are magically customized for you. The neat thing here is the information of when to start indoors and transplant.

http://www.johnnyseeds.com/e-PDGSeedStart.aspx

Clearly, you can also use the appendices at the back of our bible, the "ANSFG" book but this chart gives you concrete dates and is a bit more visual while also covering a few more crops than in the book. Either way, its just more information for you to use. However, some of the dates are DIFFERENT to the book and so use your judgment / personal experience.

Alternatively, you can download a similar chart in excel from here.

http://www.yougrowgirl.com/2006/03/31/the-lazy-gardeners-seed-starting-chart/

Remember, our last frost dates for our region are anywhere usually from around March 8th to Late April (a wide range as we include higher elevations) and first fall frost dates are usually from around mid-October to late November. I would strongly suggest that you simply google or do some additional online research as to your specific frost dates (at local extension offices for example) for more detailed information.

If you are not sure of your frost dates, here is another great tool for frost dates, both first and last to help you. Type in your zipcode and it will help you plan your growing season. FYI - My own zipcode is entered in the link.

Remember these are always merely GUIDELINES and, for what its
worth, don't take these dates as concrete. It says I have on average 177 frost free days but I can tell you that my locale was over 200 last year. You must build in some Mother Nature "wiggle room" to your plans.

Happy planting Very Happy
