Re: Sixth Year SFG in Canada
We're looking forward to seeing your gardens this year after the snow melts, TD!

Re: Sixth Year SFG in Canada
I seem to have lost all motivation for things gardening. I have two Aerogardens that have not been started up. I have not done any microgreens this winter. I can't even think about planning this year's SFG. My days seem to be consumed by my health situation ... medical appointments, diet considerations, exercise (walking plus strength and balance), reading books and research papers about the cancers, meeting with other survivors, attending support one and one and group meetings. Maybe I should just let the SFG lie fallow for this year.
PS: On days like today I feel I am going into a dark place. Depression-like symptoms are one of side effects of Androgen Deprivation Therapy. Add to that the anxiety connected with the diseases and it is not a good situation. I'll be OK once I get busy doing things.

Re: Sixth Year SFG in Canada
Same here, TD, only for me it's Hubby's health, not mine that I'm worried about. I have seedlings in the plant room that should have been transplanted already, more seeds to start, and plants in the house that need tending, but I spend my days playing XBox, watching stupid movies, and reading fiction. Life isn't much fun right now.trolleydriver wrote:I seem to have lost all motivation for things gardening. . .

Enough of that! Let's challenge each other to complete one simple garden task each day and report our progress. Maybe we get each other back on track.
Re: Sixth Year SFG in Canada
Get yourselves back out in the gardens take your mind off your worries & troubles .
I'm struggling to stand up and pull a brush full of leaves on the snow shovel then bag them , getting out in the cool damp weather is my reward .
I can't do sod all about my health other than live with it so I consciously choose to enjoy every passing moment as I'll be a long time dead .

There's a great place to start. I'd love to have an Aerogarden.trolleydriver wrote:I have two Aerogardens that have not been started up. I have not done any microgreens this winter.
I'm gonna replant radish microgreens, today or tomorrow. We eat them right after our CoQ10, to get rid of the taste.

Re: Sixth Year SFG in Canada
Can your Aerogardens grow flowers for Mrs. TD? I'd really like to see those puppies put through their paces before I turn loose any $$. (I'm not cheap -- I'm not, I'm not, I'm not!)trolleydriver wrote:CN that is a great idea. Now I need to really get my act together.countrynaturals wrote:

Yes, they can grow flowers but probably not very tall.

Not easily using the regular Aerogardens pods. However, there is a special seedling starting tray available that allows seedlings to be transplanted.sanderson wrote:Can you start seedlings, then individually up-pot them?

Hmm, I think I'll stick with Jiffy Pellets and peat pots. Next winter, maybe I'll spring for something like this:trolleydriver wrote:Not easily using the regular Aerogardens pods. Good for you. I hope to get the seedling grow light PVC frame modified today, and check out the heat mats.
